Wholly Craft started as a seed in 2005 when owner Olivera Bratich realized there was no outlet in Columbus for this new wave of craft that was rippling across the country. Alternative craft fairs had just started to pop up in the region showcasing modern, unique takes on traditional craft methods and projects but there was no place to go year round to find these collections and no place to learn multiple craft media and meet other makers in person. So, in a tiny 300 sq. ft storefront in Clintonville, on a sunny Autumn day, Wholly Craft was born.
With 40 crafty vendors, met at local fairs and online through discussion boards and this brand new website (still in beta!) called Etsy, Wholly Craft became a hidden gem for people looking to find the perfect, unique gift for their loved ones. As word of mouth spread, the tiny shop was quickly busting at the seams and soon expanded next door, tripling in size.
Over the years, the shop continued to add new crafty vendors and expand it’s selection of goods to include thousands of art prints, greeting cards, tshirts, baby gifts, tote bags, necklaces, nightlights, zines, and more (what’s here on the site is a TINY SAMPLING of what is available in the real-life shop!). Two years ago, Wholly Craft found its forever home in Clintonville, right on the Farmers’ Market path along High St. Now with over 400 vendors, the formerly tiny shop has grown into the premier destination for fun, handcrafted and ethically produced gifts in Columbus. The shop has won numerous “Best Of Columbus” awards from various media outlets over the years and it’s all because of the creativity of our top-notch crafty vendors and the helpfulness of our always on-point staff. What we’re most proud of is our dedication to our DIY roots and ethics and our determination to fill our tiny space on earth with laughter, creativity, and just a little more fun.
